The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has Empressed to some members of President Muhammadu Buhari’s council of reporting lies against the union in the course of their negotiations.
The union said disappointment over the lies expressed by the Minister of Education and Adamu Adamu, Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige and his members, who is Minister of State, Festus Keyamo (SAN) over issues surrounding its demands.
This was stated in a press that release on Monday signed by the president of ASSU, Professor Emmanuel Osodoke.
ASUU National Executive Council (NEC) had make an emergency meeting in Abuja on Sunday to review developments since its last resolution that rolled over the nationwide strike action for another four weeks that started from 1st August, 2022.
The union also declared an indefinite strike because of failure to reach an agreement with the federal government despite series of negotiations.
The academics said they had been deceived lot of ways by the federal government in the course of “sweetless and unending” negotiation exercises.
The statement read in part, “NEC regret that the Union had experienced a lot of deceit of the highest level in the past five and half years as the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) engaged ASUU in sweetless and unending negotiation without a display of utmost fidelity.
“NEC explain that ASUU and other well-meaning Nigerians have seen serious disappointment by and consternation on the attitude of the government showed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, who had deliberately not informed the public and reduced the current struggle of ASUU to the payment of withheld salaries, claiming that all other contentious issues had been settle.
