Mozambiques teachers return to Islamist hit norths

 

More-than 2,500 teaching and non-teaching education staff who has fled their homes in the jihadist hit northern Mozambiques province of Cabo Delgado have returned to their homes due to the restoration of relatives peace in the areas.

A provincial education official, Manuel Bacar, said some schools had reopened in the districts of Mocimboa da Praia, Palma, Macomia and Quissanga because of the returns of the teachers.

“We have, in these districts, a total of 102,808 students who have already resumed classes.”

The area has been plagued by jihadist violence since 2017.
